A real estate investment consultant & independent MAI commercial appraiser with extensive experience involving the valuation and evaluation of a wide variety of income-producing and special use properties in Arizona and throughout the United States and parts of Canada.
Expert Witness Experience
Extensive experience as an expert witness in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts. Served as an expert witness in major litigation assignments, including the Lake Pleasant Regional Park, Auviana Medical Complex & Outpatient Surgery Center, Arizona Biltmore Resort, and the Scottsdale Princess Resort.
Review Appraiser Experience
Extensive experience as a Review Appraiser for attorneys, accountants, investment companies, and government agencies. Retained as a Review Appraiser for the Resolution Trust Company (RTC) to review the appraisal reports for many of the foreclosed commercial properties in Arizona and evaluate the reliability and accuracy of appraisal reports for the sale of the properties.
In addition, retained by the Vancouver Stock Exchange to determine the accuracy and reliability of appraisal reports submitted to them by companies to be listed on its stock exchange.

Served as a real estate investment consultant for private investors and real estate investment companies in regard to the identification and evaluation of potential real estate properties for acquisition purposes.
Business History
For over the past 40 years, I have been a real estate investment consultant/MAI appraiser, and also an author/editor/publisher of a few real estate publications. My real estate experience includes a wide variety of assignments and clientele. Clients include banks and other financial institutions, law firms, accounting firms, family trusts & estates, real estate developers, private investors, government agencies, and real estate investment companies.
Pannell Kerr Forster (PKF) – Principal and Director of Real Estate Valuation (1988-1990)
An international accounting and real estate consulting/appraisal firm. As a Principal in the firm, I directed the real estate valuation division for the Los Angeles and Phoenix offices. The main emphasis of my practice was in the hospitality industry, which involved the valuation and financial feasibility of hotels, resorts, and large mixed-use projects in the western part of the United States, including Hawaii.
Appraisal Resources, Inc. – President (1982-1987)
Upon receiving my MAI designation in 1982, I founded this real estate valuation/consulting company in New York, which involved the valuation of a wide variety of income-producing and investment properties. I relocated the company to Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1984.
Appraisers & Planners, Inc. – Senior Appraiser (1979-1982)
A New York-based real estate consulting, valuation, and planning company. My experience included the valuation of a wide variety of income-producing properties in New York City and throughout the United States.
International Appraisal Company, Inc. – Staff Appraiser (1976-1978)
A New Jersey-based international appraisal company specializing in the valuation of large manufacturing facilities throughout the United States for Fortune 500 companies.
Writing & Lecturing
- Guest lectured at the graduate business schools within Baruch College (New York) and New York University in regard to real estate investment and valuation matters.
- Conducted seminars for the appraisers and attorneys with the Maricopa County Assessors Office in regard to real estate valuation matters.
- Appointed to the Maricopa County Ad Hoc Property Tax Committee, which was established to review and make recommendations for changes in the property tax system in Arizona.
- Wrote and published some real estate-related publications, which included special-use properties such as hotels, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and independent senior housing. Publications include:
